We understand that admissions to specialist provision can feel complex. Our process is clear, supportive and collaborative. Admissions are typically via Local Authorities, SEND teams or EHCP consultation process. Our admissions process includes reviewing relevant data, discussions with children's current or most recent educational provision, discussion with the child’s parents/carers, and a extensive review all relevant paperwork in order to complete an on-site observation of the prospective student following a tour of the school.

Brightleaf Education Group works closely with local authorities and families to ensure placements are appropriate and sustainable. We review EHCP documentation carefully and arrange consultations to understand each young person’s needs fully.

Placement Suitability
Every child’s journey begins with understanding. We take the time to carefully review all relevant information, speak with parents or carers, and engage with your child’s current or most recent educational setting. Wherever possible, we also invite your child to visit the school, allowing us to observe how they feel within the environment. This ensures that any placement we offer is not only suitable, but truly right for them.

 

Admissions Timeline
We aim to move at a pace that balances efficiency with care. While some elements, such as Local Authority funding decisions, sit outside of our control, we remain proactive and communicative throughout. Typically:

• We respond to all referrals within 48 working hours, but often on the same day

• Initial assessments and information gathering take place within 5–7 working days

• Internal reviews are usually completed within 1–2 working days

• A clear outcome is then shared, alongside next steps such as placement offers, meetings, and transition planning

 

Our focus is always on reducing uncertainty and keeping families informed at every stage.

 

Our Reach and Partnerships
We work in close partnership with Local Authorities across our region, generally within a 45–60 minute travel radius of each school. This ensures that our provision remains accessible, whilst maintaining strong, collaborative relationships that support each child’s long-term success.

 

A Gentle and Supported Transition
Starting a new school can feel like a big step, for both children and their families. That is why we create a carefully tailored transition plan for every pupil. This may include visits to the school, time spent with key staff, and, where helpful, visits to your home or current setting.

 

We often introduce a phased start, allowing your child to settle in gradually, building confidence at their own pace. Each pupil is supported by a dedicated member of staff, providing consistency, reassurance and a familiar face from day one.
